Not all people who are conservatives agree with common sense or calling things by their real names-as there has been a complete departure from reason in today’s political climate, but I’m seeing more and more people coming out and calling this out for the foolishness it is.  I talked about it previously,<a href=”http://caosblog.com/archives/16523″> here</a>.  Bravo to JR who writes <a href=”http://www.greatamericanjournal.com/editor/archives/HopeandChangeComestoHaiti.htm”>at the American Journal</a>, proceeding from the Rahm Emmanuel quote:

Great question, JR!  Like a bunch of adolescents with blank checks, this is the height of irresponsible behavior, driven by FEELINGS; completely abandoning common sense…or the repurcussions down the road.  Like it or not, we don’t have and endless amount of cash on hand…we need to learn how to live within our means!

Joe Biden announced today that the Haitian recovery effort will not end with the recovery operation but will be a long term effort to rebuild and sustain the country.

“Our message is simple,” Biden said during his stop in South Florida, which has the largest Haitian-American population in the U.S. “We are there to rescue. We are there to secure. We will be there to provide. We will rebuild, and we will sustain.”

Could this be a prelude to making Haiti America’s 51st state, and another welfare state for the Democrats? “[Haiti] will still be on our radar screen long after it’s off of CNN crawler,” said Biden. “This is personal,” Biden added, referring to White House political director Patrick Gaspard, a Haitian-American who still has family in Haiti.

Biden went on to say: “The Haitian people, they’re our friends, they’re our partners, our neighbors.” They’re are “partners?” Partners in what – poverty and illegal immigration? In what legitimate venture have Americans ever partnered with Haiti? </blockquote>

Partners in crime is more like it – Haiti is fraught with corruption and they are so behind-the-times that they only made rape a crime in 2005.

Support Martha Coakley

The final health care reform vote is just a few weeks away. But next Tuesday, Massachusetts is holding a special election to fill the open seat left by the passing of my friend and colleague, Senator Ted Kennedy — and the results will be pivotal in determining whether we pass health care reform this year.

If Ted Kennedy was still with us in the Senate, I’m certain he’d proudly vote “aye” to pass the most progressive step towards universal coverage in four decades. And the Democrat running to fill his seat, Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley, has pledged she’d do the same.

But Martha is running neck-and-neck against a Republican, state senator Scott Brown, who would betray Ted Kennedy’s proud legacy of fighting for the uninsured.

We need Martha Coakley’s vote in the Senate to pass real health care reform this year — and to do that, we need to act now to make sure she has the resources she needs to hold on to Ted Kennedy’s seat in the Senate.

Well of course Kennedy would have voted “for” “universal” socialized medicine – he made trips to the soviet union, too, where he was romanced by communists – just like Joe Kennedy was an admirer and defender of Hitler. Dems need Coakley’s vote, and that’s the reason the voters need to take it away. Yes, even the libs in Masachussetts are “getting it”, DICK!

But then I noticed The Mary Hunter’s post at Moonbattery -Democrats in Sheer Panic over Teddy’s Seat, where it’s pointed out that

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has purchased advertising to help Martha Coakley.

Read that again.

NOT the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), but the campaign committee for the House of Representatives.

Yowsers. Get me some popcorn! Then this incredible email from MassResistance at about the same time; and now I’m sitting on the edge of my seat:

After last month’s primary elections for the US Senate seat formerly held by Ted Kennedy, Republican Scott Brown was trailing Democrat Martha Coakley by 30 points in the polls.

No one in the media – and we mean no one – gave him a chance. Even the national Republican Party gave up on Brown and decided to withhold significant financial help.

But they underestimated the outrage sweeping the nation, and even Massachusetts. Barack Obama and the out-of-control Congress have lit a fuse across the country that’s even reached ultra-blue Massachusetts. People are realizing that this election can change the course of America. Because of the US Senate’s makeup, Scott Brown is literally the difference between the radical Obama agenda — or any hope of a return to common sense.

By last week the Rasmussen Poll showed Brown down by just 9 points.

Now it’s a statistical dead heat.

Yesterday the Rasmussen poll gave Coakley a slim 2 point lead overall, with Brown leading among independents who are likely to vote by 71%-23%. Also this week the Democratic firm Public Policy Polling announced the race a dead heat with Brown up by one, 48% to 47%.

The Wall Street Journal also reported that the Public Policy Poll found that likely Bay State voters oppose the Democratic health plans by 47% to 41% and that they give Barack Obama only 44% job approval — after Obama carried this state by 26 points only 14 months ago. It also found Republicans much more motivated to vote than Democrats in this election.

Unprecedented grassroots effort and excitement becoming contagious

We haven’t seen anything quite like this in Massachusetts Republican politics. By far, this race has generated more grassroots energy than any a Republican campaign in memory. People are excited. They are volunteering, making calls, fundraising, holding signs, stuffing envelopes, anything they can do. Normally moribund Republican Town Committees across the state are calling their lists of voters. Even people who voted for Obama are repenting.

Around the country people are getting involved. On Tuesday a “money bomb” campaign raised over $1.3 million in just 24 hours. (We’ve been told that the average donation was around $77 – regular people, not like the big-money donations that Coakley rakes in.) And a lot of money from national conservative groups is picking up the slack from the Republican Party’s abandonment of Brown, buying pro-Brown ads in Massachusetts.

And Brown seems to be stepping up to the task. In recent emails we’ve reported that Brown’s campaign was boring an unimaginative. It’s gotten 100% better. It has real life. He is a very appealing candidate.

At the same time, the Coakley campaign is lackluster. Coakley has become what John McCain was – a Party’s flag-bearer but not someone that anybody could get excited about or warm up to. Callers on the local talk shows are ridiculing everything from her strange diction to her absenteeism during the campaign.

Our MassResistance blog reported an anecdote that others have also noticed:

On the Tom and Todd show Tuesday morning (WRKO AM680), Bill Hudak (Republican candidate for Mass. Sixth Congressional Dist., North Shore) called in with a great anecdote on the Brown-Coakley debate Monday night.

He said that the union guys were out in force outside the building with big 4′ x 8′ Coakley signs. As Scott Brown arrived at the building, he went over and greeted the guys. Hudak overheard them tell Brown, “We’re voting for you. We just got paid $50 to hold the signs.”

When Coakley arrived, in typical arrogant liberal style, she walked right by the guys holding her signs without a word of acknowledgement.

It’s a classic anecdote.

Left-wing Worcester Telegram endorses Brown!

On Sunday, the left-wing Worcester Telegram (owned by the Boston Globe and New York Times) officially endorsed Scott Brown! In a bit of refreshing common sense they articulated what a difference Brown could make in Washington by stopping the Democratic juggernaut:

“That lockstep mentality and one-party rule has not served the people of Massachusetts well on Beacon Hill, but led to a culture of corruption and arrogance. The same has been true on Capitol Hill, where, whether under President Bush or President Obama, large majorities for one party or the other have led to complacency, overspending, and a willingness to shutter debates and muffle the voice of the people.”

It’s an exciting time. We think the out-of-touch-with-reality liberal establishment is in for a big shock.

Not surprisingly, the only other really exciting Republican election in recent years was when Scott Brown beat Angus McQuilken for the state Senate seat on March 2, 2004 — also a special election. Sen. Cheryl Jacques, an activist lesbian, had resigned to run a national homosexual organization in Washington DC. McQuilken had been her chief of staff and had huge liberal support, and it looked like a slam dunk. But Republicans from around the state rallied to the cause and Brown won!

People forget that Ronald Reagan won twice in Massachusetts. It might happen again on Tuesday!

It’s no wonder they’re panic-stricken.

It’s the naked truth now:  Congress will spend your money to get votes from anyone else, even if it means you and yours will suffer at the hands of a person elected in another state, just so the party in power will be able to claim some victory, while burning down the house?

I have often mused that the entire 535 people in the Congress should have to take my phone calls/letters/emails, because they take my money.  Add to that, they will tell you they are doing the work of “the people.”

They are paid by Federal funds.  Those are collected from everyone…yet somehow these people continue to blow off anyone outside their districts.  At one level, I could buy that, if they actually worked for their districts, but…as we now see in the abomination of a health care bill, they will be very happy to “redistribute your wealth” to get enough votes, so long at the hold outs get what they want for their district…AT YOUR EXPENSE!

So much for equal rights, so much for “equality,” so much for “justice.”  It’s just naked power grabs, and to hell with anyone who doesn’t like it.

We have all known this is how some of it went, but now there seems to be no vestige of fair play left in the system, just who can keep their friends in the money.

I thought of the Christmas 2007 videos of the Presidential Candidates, in particular Hillary Clinton’s, where it was all about what they would take from someone else in order to give something to someone else, just to get the vote.  “Regifting” at the Federal level, and not one of them mentioned how they would personally provide something, just that they would rob Peter and pay Pauline.

Add to that that no one can even read the bill before it is voted on.  Anyone who has been an employer would fire an employee, sent to represent them at a meeting, only to find out they didn’t read the material, but cut deals with the others in the room, because they personally would benefit, even while the company suffered a loss.

That’s Congress.  They don’t work for their pay, they take our money so they can sit there and vote themselves privilege, even while we are out of work, and have crushing debt piling up…at their own hand.

We should be able to call them, any one of them and voice our opinion, and they should have a mechanism to hear it, instead of rejecting it based on address.  They do what affects all of us, yet they put up walls to keep our voices out.

Now, we’ll have to listen to them complain that they sacrificed time with their families to stay in the deep (record breaking) snow of DC to make sure this vote was conducted in the favor of the Democrats alone, while Americans, the run of the mill, small business owners and regular people, will be force to send money to DC to cover their political commitments in other states to buy votes for the next 4 years, while getting nothing in return.  In a private setting, you’d get to sue the provider for not providing, but then…this it President Obama and the Democrats at work telling you where you will send your money and that you will go to jail if you do not.

2010 can’t come soon enough.  Maybe Americans will have awakened by then…or they will have been stupefied by being told they will have everything taken care of by Big Brother.  How stupid we have become, and we let it happen.

If this country goes bankrupt, it will do so for one reason, and one reason alone: too much government spending. That’s how you go bankrupt! The only possible way to go bankrupt is to spend more money than you have, and to owe more than you have or are worth. I wonder how many bankruptcy judges would take kindly to a person saying, “Gee, your honor, if you’d just give me a loan equal to double what I earn in a year, then I wouldn’t go bankrupt!” Again, only in government is there such a serious disconnect with reality that these people actually believe that bankruptcy comes from spending too little.

Of course, the dirty secret about spending still remains hidden. Once again, in the background, there are complaints about the high costs of medicare and social security. And there is a very, very simple problem (which is why it will never happen).

Do you know what the original purpose of both medicare and social security were? Think about it, I’ll wait. No idea? Their original purpose was to help those who were physically incapable of helping themselves. This was never intended to be any sort of retirement plan at all. They were never intended to provide medical insurance for the elderly. In fact, the VAST majority of people who were alive never planned on receiving a dime from either program! Their purpose was to help only those people that got so old they were physically unable to work and provide for themselves. Most people died before reaching the age required. This is what made the programs possible. If people wanted to retire, they were free to retire  — but they weren’t given presents by the federal government for reaching a certain age.

So, how do we fix both programs overnight and permanently? Simple — index the age of benefits to the average lifespan, back to the time these programs were put in place. Yes, this means that the majority of people would pay into the systems (at a MUCH lower rate than toady, freeing up piles of cash to jump-start the economy) and not get one dollar back. But in that case, the people paying into the system would just help those who really needed it — a program that liberals should love.

But what would be the index today? If the age for receiving medicare and social security were indexed for lifespan, your average paycheck would increase by over 10%, but only those who reached the age of 81 would get benefits from the government. You could still retire at age 65, but you’d just have to pay for your own retirement. And if you were physically able, you could just keep working. Once you reached age 81 and were physically incapable of working, then you’d get social security and medicare.

That’s how the programs were initially designed, and America will go bankrupt if these programs aren’t changed — not because America is spending too little money, but because we’re spending way too much.

A Taunton father is outraged after his 8-year-old son was sent home from school and required to undergo a psychological evaluation after drawing a stick-figure picture of Jesus Christ on the cross.

The father said he got a call earlier this month from Maxham Elementary School informing him that his son, a second-grade student, had created a violent drawing. The image in question depicted a crucified Jesus with Xs covering his eyes to signify that he had died on the cross. The boy wrote his name above the cross.

The child, whose name is being withheld to protect him, is a special needs student who is 8 years old. Think this will traumatize him? Well, yes. The story points out that he has had trouble going back to school after the suspension and mandatory counseling, and the school administrators have approved a transfer request to another school.

How did the sketch come about (which you can see at the link)?

The student drew the picture shortly after taking a family trip to see the Christmas display at the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette, a Christian retreat site in Attleboro. He made the drawing in class after his teacher asked the children to sketch something that reminded them of Christmas, the father said.

I believe that he was on his way to understanding the true meaning of Christmas, that it is about Jesus (though, about his birth, not Crucifixion, of course.)

Any one want to make a bet on whether he would have been suspended had he drawn George Bush being crucified?

A valuable lesson in political correctness? I expect the ACLU to swoop in and protect free speech and religious expression pro bono any minute now.

Michelle Malkin provides some contrasting situations.

He knows, and the Administrator of NASA knows, that the penalty for crimes against humanity is death. Hansen is asking for those of us who disagree with him to be tried by the Staatssicherheitsdienst and then killed, and the Administrator of NASA continues to allow him to get away with it.

As an informed American, you already know that Barack Hussein Obama deserves impeachment. But can he be impeached?

Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution reads:

“The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.”

Obama hasn’t committed treason or accepted bribes… at least any that we know about… yet. But is Obama guilty of committing “high crimes and misdemeanors?”

And what does “high crimes and misdemeanors” mean anyway?

Our Framers were very familiar with the term… it’s from English Common Law, and essentially means “bad behavior.”

Are we saying that our Founding Fathers set the standard for impeachment of the President of the United states at “bad behavior?”

Yes.

Here’s a passage from CSPAN.org that explains the intent of our Founding Fathers more clearly:

“The Congress decides the definition [of impeachable offenses]: by majority vote in the House for impeachment, and by 2/3 vote in the Senate for conviction. The Framers of the Constitution deliberately put impeachment into the hands of the legislative branch rather than the judicial branch, thus transforming it from strictly a matter of legal definition to a matter of political judgment.”

CSpan.org continues:

“Representative Gerald Ford put it into practical perspective in 1970, when he said an impeachable offense is ‘whatever a majority of the House of Representatives considers it to be at a given moment in history.’”

Is it an impeachable offense for a president to attempt to take over every major industry?

Is it an impeachable offense to devastate the world’s best health system?

Is it an impeachable offense to be so blind to reality and so compliant to the worst elements of radical terrorists… that you put American lives at extreme risk?

Is such behavior beyond bad… is it a crime against a free people?

You better believe it. Case-closed… Now let’s roll.
