Defending our Chicago Police Officers
By Rosanna Pulido
August 3, 2008
The Chicago and Illinois Minuteman Project members sat through the hearing at Chicago City Hall Tuesday, August 5, 2008. We got there early at 8:00 AM so we would make sure we could testify. We left at 1:30 PM, and by then, only four Minutemen had been allowed to speak. The meeting was called by pro illegal alien lobby aldermen to beat up on our Chicago Police Department.
What we are witnessing is the dismantling of justice. Hearsay from illegal aliens is held in higher esteem than the testimony of our own police officers. Danny Solis and Billy Osaico-two Hispanic aldermen-want all illegals all the time. What we saw with our own eyes was shameful and disgraceful. No one seems to care that the very lives of our Chicago Police Officers are at risk; certainly not Hispanic Chicago aldermen.
Not only were illegal aliens preferred over American citizens by the Hispanic city aldermen. The Minutemen sat in the first row and while the Chicago Suntimes and the Tribune wrote articles on this meeting, there was no report of our testimonies calling for an end to Sanctuary Policies in Chicago; and NO report of us defending the Chicago Police Department; and no report that there was opposition to the anarchy and lawlessness that was going on at the pleasure of the Open Borders Aldermen.
Six Minutemen wanted to testify on behalf of law-abiding citizens of Chicago and only four were called up to speak, while the crowd was filled with actual illegal aliens who were paraded with their children in front of the aldermen and police officials. Some could not speak a word of English and had interpreters. The pro illegal people were favored 3-1 to come up and speak. An African-American man who wanted to testify against illegal immigration was denied the right to speak in favor of illegal aliens.
While we tried our best to defend Chicago police officers and the danger illegal aliens pose to their very lives, both Fran Speilman, Chicago Suntimes Reporter; and Hal Dardick, of the Chicago Tribune; chose not to report what really went on and do not care to report both sides of the story.
Thank God we have places like Illinois Review to tell the public what really went on.
Families and friends of Chicago police officers should be outraged. Our officers have a tough enough job without their hands tied behind their backs when doing their jobs with people who carry false identification and have no allegiance to America and try to escape the rule of law.
In the words of Rick Biesada, when we left, we all realized as Minutemen we had just witnessed our first Mexican Hootenanny.
God help us all.
